As the International Fundraising Executive, you will be responsible for acquiring, developing, and retaining supporters and partners, primarily foundations but including major individual donors. You will work with and be supported by an international team, to serve donors by matching their interests with the strategies and programs developed by Tearfund and its partners around the world.

As the International Fundraising Executive, you will be responsible for building and stewarding a portfolio of new and existing national and international foundation donors.  You will work with International Partnerships and Fundraising group to secure grants and ensure proper donor stewardship.  You will have the responsibility for growing income from key US relationships by using fundraising skills to plan and implement appropriate strategy and tactics.

 Position Responsibilities

Relationship Building

  • Develop individual goals for each contact on caseload, based on the donor’s history of giving and the organization’s knowledge of that donor’s potential.

  • Devise and execute an engagement plan for each contact to retain and upgrade support. Ability to implement and adapt the plan as necessary throughout the year.

  • Work with colleagues to secure appropriate project information, including budgets, and create offers, proposals and asks that will be used to engage supporters financially using proposals, reports, and updates.

  • Deliver monthly reports which accurately reflects caseload activity and performance as well as market research, including current trends in the sector and be responsible for highlighting significant threats/opportunities.

  • Ensure a comprehensive knowledge of all of Tearfund’s activities, policies and corporate information in order to represent Tearfund accurately.

  • Organize events and trips where appropriate for caseload.

  • Perform other activities as necessary

Prospect Research and Proposal Development

  • Research potential and existing donors and International Trusts to gather relevant information on interests, giving patterns and funding cycles

  • Ensure that the requirements internal policies including Funding Sources Policy and Project Design Approval

  • Work with wider International Fundraising & Partnerships Team, the International Group and the Executive Team of Tearfund USA to identify suitable projects, secure appropriate project information, including budgets, and create offers, proposals and asks that will be used to engage supporters.

  • Work with the Executive Leadership Team, Board members and other Tearfund representatives in approaches they make to current or potential donors.

  • Write applications for trusts and providing timely appropriate reports for grants secured.

  • Perform other donor research and proposal development activities as necessary

  Planning and Budgeting

  • Devise the income targets for international projects.

  • Keep an active understanding of the fundraising market and trust fundraising environment for input into planning.

  • Develop and produce income targets and forecasts for your area of responsibility.

  • Work with the team to develop overall strategy including budgetary requirements, new initiative ROI and cost-benefit analysis.

  • Ensure that thorough donor information and correspondence is maintained in Salesforce

 Skills/Qualifications

Required

  • Committed Christian with an active relationship with Jesus. Fully aligned with the vision, mission, and values of Tearfund USA, including the Statement of Faith.  Committed to prayer, service, and compassion, keeping Jesus at the center of work and life.

  • Demonstrated willingness to take initiative, establish goals and set priorities; management of personal schedule effectively, and follow-through while managing multiple projects under pressure

  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and proven fundraising ability

  • Cross-cultural experience and communication skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with MSWord, Excel and donor database systems as well as other elements related to social media communications.

  • Ability to travel and work flexible, irregular hours including weekends and possess valid driver’s license and passport. Expect overseas travel of up to six weeks.

  • Must be authorized to work in the USA

Preferred

  • Masters Degree with at least 10 years experience preferred

  • CFRE certification and/or marketing degree

  • Experience with and commitment to international relief and development, cross‐cultural engagement, and social justice advocacy

  • Experience with Salesforce and Sage Intaact

  • Experience reporting to a senior executive

  • Project management experience
