Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Product Manager

The SME product manager is a technical resource that supports the HOPE network of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in the ongoing support and expansion of small and medium enterprise (SME) loans, individual lending, and associated services. The SME product manager will collaborate with MFI leaders and technical advisors to design and roll out SME products, review large SME loan applications, and ensure timely and accurate reporting on the health, status, and impact of the global SME portfolio.
This role is not designed as an expatriate role and therefore only open to applicants that already reside in the US, Ukraine, or Rwanda.

Reports to: Director of MFI Development & Compliance
Promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International;
Collaborate with MFI program leadership and technical advisors to provide SME product support and service expansion within HOPE’s network of programs;
Equip and coach MFI leaders to design client-centered products and improve existing product terms, underwriting tools, operational processes, and delinquency management methods;
Train and develop MFI staff in all aspects of the SME finance;
Review large SME loan applications for HOPE-managed MFIs;
Track product performance in aggregate and at a program level. Ensure accurate and timely reporting on relevant key performance indicators for the global SME portfolio;
Assess and report on holistic impact of the global SME portfolio;
Conduct industry research on SME lending and apply best practices to HOPE’s product and processes.
Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International;
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance or related field;
At least 3-5 years of professional experience in microfinance, international banking, or financial services sector, including relevant experience underwriting and evaluating SME loans;
Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of competing demands/multiple deadlines;
Demonstrated analytical thinking skills;
Excellent cross-cultural listening and communication skills;
Cross cultural living experience preferred;
Demonstrated capacity to motivate and lead others in a culturally diverse and geographically distributed context;
Advanced Microsoft Office suite skills, including expert-level Microsoft Excel skills;
Full professional proficiency in English language;
Professional working proficiency in French, Russian, or Ukrainian preferred;
Willingness to travel up to 75 nights per year, both domestic and international.
