Ministry Function: The Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist (MEL) supports the ministry of Convoy of Hope by working with the MEL team to ensure COH’s global work is evidence-based, effective, and meets COH’s quality standards.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Manages the day-to-day MEL functions in support of the overarching MEL strategy for GP.
  2. Makes recommendations for data collection methods and techniques to equip international staff on quarterly reporting.
  3. Seeks to lead with an innovative approach and continuously improve the MEL strategy by promoting a data-informed decision-making model.
  4. Maintains current knowledge of world events and industry trends in order to effectively adapt the MEL strategy and approach.
  5. Collaborates on GP research objectives and identifies methods for impact-based analysis.
  6. Works with global MEL staff and implementing partners to develop country specific data collection and reporting methods.
  7. Works with GP programmatic specialists to establish ongoing standard/indicator reviews.
  8. Collaborates with various GP team members to secure specific data requested for internal and external reporting upon request.  
  9. Collaborates with GP team members to implement sustainable development programmatic measurement instruments and strategy.
  10. Travels as assigned for program evaluation and training.
  11. All other duties as assigned.  

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  1. Bachelor's degree in statistics, analytics, data science, or another relevant field is required.
  2. 2+ years of work experience in a related field, required.
  3. Experience in a nonprofit organization and international work is preferred.
  4. Fluent in computer knowledge and experience with Salesforce is ideal.
  5. Expresses a strong attention to detail.
  6. Experience and aptitude for collaborative teamwork approach to problem solving.
  7. Demonstrates the ability to creatively problem-solve and interpret data in a way that addresses programmatic realities and culturally sensitive scenarios.
  8. Is motivated to hit milestones and meet deadlines.
  9. Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
  11. Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
  12. As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that each staff member embraces the organization's religious purposes for which it exists and not only agrees with its Statement of Faith but demonstrates it in their lives on an ongoing basis.
